Beats of no nation: fantastic beats and where to find them

On January 16th, 2023, afrobeat octet Beats of No Nation released their debut album “Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them” på Smeik.

Members of Beats fo No Nation have already established themselves as central figures in the new generation of Norwegian jazz and groove-based music, having performed worldwide with a long list of acts. In Beats of No Nation, they are united thanks to their shared affection for the music of Fela Kuti, deep groves, raw energy, spontaneity, and improvisation.

The recording session was conceived to retain the sound and feel of a live performance - characteristics which have been faithfully preserved throughout the rest of the production of the album.
