Ojkos & THe big release of singles

On February 2nd, 2024, Ojkos (The Orchestra for Jazz Composers in Oslo) released three singles on Smeik.

Ojkos has existed for five and a half years, been involved in 31 unique projects by 17 different composers and performed a total of 2170 minutes of completely new music! A lot of this music has eagerly awaited a possibility of being shared with the world, which has become possible through Smeik for three of Ojkos’ members: Magnus Murphy Joelson, Arne Martin Nybo og Alexander Hoholm. A total of six singles were released at the same time, but from other labels, resulting in an album’s worth of music.

Through these singles we meet a solid group of musicians, where the members have already established themselves as central figures in the new generation of Norway’s jazz scene. The result shows many of the almost endless possibilities present when writing music for a full jazz orchestra.
